A big announcement from Funko is just in: They're going to expand their line of POP! figures around the release of MLP The Movie with at least 4 figures. Seapony versions of Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle are set for a release around September-October this year.
Images are not yet available, but we'll be on the lookout for those in the coming weeks. Below we have some Canadian pre-order listings where they were first found, but expect Amazon or Entertainment Earth listings to follow soon.
Thanks to Tomo for the info!

  1. Another time they leave out Rarity? Geez, what's Funko's problem against her. This really stinks.

  4. I've noticed this pattern ever since the beginning..."Let's make the mane four!" "What about Applejack and Rarity?" "Who...?" -.-

    1. You can tell who Worst-Selling Ponies are. =(

    2. Exceot, at least Rarity, isn't worsemt selling considering how an entire subline of dolls this year are designed to solelu be compatible with her new Runway playset, and explicitely say so. Funko is just a crappy company who puts meme characters ahead of the main cast.

    3. This has nothing to do with Memes but how Hasbro sells the licences for the characters, it is more expensive for companies to pick specific characters over Hasbro's character licence bundles which is the reason for why most 3rd party releases are Twi+Pie+RD.

    4. Except you're wrong, Funko has on numerous occassions picked going for meme characters and unnecessary things over completing the Mane 6, with their Previous Pop line, and then their vinyl line was also just as bad taking incredibly long to complete the Mane 6, because oh boy did we really need to get those Doctor Whooves and Derpys in!

    5. That could be explained by character license bundles too. Maybe there's a "brony faves" set that only includes some of the Mane 6 as well as the popular meme ponies. Since Funko aims towards adults they are probably going to go with a "brony faves" over a "Mane 6" pack even tho the licensing costs are probably the same. Now for the Movie they probably have a cheaper 4 character bundle and a bigger bundle with all 6. Funko obviously went for the cheaper bundle.

    6. Be grateful for what you have, Anon. At least Funko is willing to make MLP Figures.
Not too many other companies seem interested in doing the same.

    7. I'd rather Funko make nothing at all if they're going to leave out main characters. If they're interested in the cheaper thing, they shouldn't get anyone at all.

Pops are garbage anyway, but maybe I'd be interested in getting them if they didn't keep leaving out my favorites.

    8. ^We're just going to have to agree to disagree on that. I like the POPs I've collected and I don't see them as garbage at all.

    9. Nobody forces you to buy them to begin with.

    10. Maybe it's because the Pops never hit the popularity of the vinyls. Yeah they do tend to focus of the most popular ones at first (and like it or not but the meme ponies are more popular than some of the Mane 6 for a huge segment of the adult fandom) but then they eventually get more licenses if they sell well enough. Unfortunately the past Pops never did well enough to fund more licenses. They even tried variants to no avail. The vinyls mostly did well in the beginning because people were chasing those glitter variants.

    11. Maybe, and here me out, the past pops didn't do well because, I don't know, they made pops of characters they shouldn't have? I saw a ton of those crappy meme characters on clearance. And the character polls still place mostly the mane 6 before any other characters. The fact that Funko would do this is a reason they do poor. They're shooting themselves in the foot. And even if crappy meme characters were still more popular to the adult fandom, they're still not to kids. They're the ones shooting themselves in the foot here.

And @Ayu, maybe I would if they actually bothered tp make the characters they should be in the first place.

    12. ^ I could see the kids not being too wild for Dr. Hooves, but who doesn't like Derpy? Her POP always seemed to sell well here. And the Vinyl Scratch ones were gone even faster than the Derpy ones.

    13. Pops aren't meant for kids. And tbh it seems the meme characters sold better. Most of what was left near me was Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. The 2 most common and oversold characters.
