MLP Merch Poll #165MLP Merch Poll #164 Results
Last week we asked you about the NY Toy Fair this year, and what your favorite part of the My Little Pony wrap-up was. Even though some people think it was a bit small this year, the brushables display was the most popular this year, closely followed by the Equestria Girls Minis. The newcomer Cutie Mark Crew managed to get the 3rd spot, and further down the ranking we see Basic Fun and Equestria Girls at the 4th and 5th place. Other displays scored 6% of the votes or lower, with the Plush section on the bottom.

This week we'd like to know whether you collect any ponies from older My Little Pony generations? With the 35th anniversary re-releases of the G1 ponies are back on the shelves, but there have been more generations in between. In this poll you can select any generation that you collect, so pick all that apply!
You can find the current poll below or in the side bar on the right of the website, or towards the bottom of the page if you're using a smartphone.

  1. Technically I would collect all of the generations if I found them but as far as preFiM ponies go, I have more G1s than any other generation.

  2. I collect all ponies. G1 is my favorite, followed very closely by G3.

  3. I would collect G1s and G3s if shipping cost wasn't so high and it wasn't so hard to find something that ships to my country.

  4. No, I was actually never into ponies until G4. Like, I thought Minty was cute and all, but I didn't grow up watching and collecting them. The G4 designs appeal much more to me.

  5. I actually collect mostly G3 (and G1). I sometimes buy G2 if their designs are nice (+ babies). I don't even collect G4 anymore, I sold most of my collection. I still have some I'll sell, and I'll keep only a few, the ones with my favourite designs (like Silver Spoon, Minty, Mrs. Cake & Dewdrop Dazzle). Now I'll only buy EG minis for the newest generation, because they changed the design of normal EG dolls (I collected them earlier as well, but haven't sell them, only donated a few from mane six).

G3 has always been my favourite generation, so it's obviously the one I've focused (I have hundreds of them, and mostly miss those that are rare in Finland/in general, though I have rare ones as well). Even though G1 was my childhood, G3 ended up having a bigger impact to me, and I like their general design more. For G1, I only collect my favourite sets (Twinkle Eyes, BBE, Teeny Tinys...) and others with my favourite designs. And yeah, if I find any in a flea market and the price is ok, I'll definitely buy.

Lately I haven't been very active buying ponies, mostly because my in-come is now lower, and because I have no room for them. (That's also one of the reasons I sold the majority of my G4 ponies, I just kept them in boxes under my bed because there was no room to have on shelves etc.).

  6. I adore the mini-ponies, so it's G3.5 for me. The playsets hold a special place in my heart.

Is this a sign that MLP Merch is expanding the database beyond G4?

    1. They've already said they're doing that a couple times. I look forward to when that comes out!

    2. Correct, and it's a slow process, but right now we're working on a (still secret) project that can speed this up a bit! More info soon ;)

  9. I am a G1 collector but will take any pony. G1 was my childhood and adult love. Soooo happy to see that they had the 35th anniversary release and finally found the last one i needed today. G1 is a classic...still buy G4 though and my 2 year old daughter has just fallen inlove with the ponies like her mum. Few things truley bring me joy but my little pony..especially G1 is one of those things
