At the start of this year Basic Fun teased an upcoming line of Y2K-inspired ponies at the London Toy Fair, but after that a long silence followed. Until now, as an online wholesaler shared official images of all four ponies!
Y2K, or the year 2000 for those not familiar with the term, does not refer to ponies actually released in that year. They're not even from the same generation (G2 barely gets any retro love!) and instead the line consists of four G1 ponies that are themed after the Y2K style: Firefly, Glory, Medley and Posey.
The ponies get pre-styled hair (braided, crimped or straight), colorful eyeshadow, a glitter-filled comb, hair clips and a sheet full of jewels to decorate your pony. The window box the ponies come in is also fully Y2K-themed, combined with the classic G1 logo.
At this moment the release date is not yet known, but we have hope that these will be available before the end of the year. When they're released you can find them in our database and keep track of your G1 retro collection.
