A surprising announcement has been shared this week, as River Horse, a British board game developer, announced an upcoming My Little Pony tabletop Role Playing Game: Tails of Equestria. It took a while before we got to see an official RPG, but I think the success of the MLP:CCG was one of the triggers for Hasbro to get into it.
According to an interview with the makers, who got into it by watching the show, the game will be everything you expect from a tabletop RPG: Character sheets, dice, skills, levels and story line. Every player will pick either a Pegasus, Unicorn or Earth Pony and your chosen cutie mark will heavily impact the way you play. It also has some similarities to the CCG, for example with 'face-offs' to decide winners in direct battles, being it with other ponies or environmental objects and enemies.
At this moment there are plans for a hardcover book, with character sheets, some RPG adventures and a map. No figures will be included, but as you wish you can always use regular brushables or blind bags to your liking.
We'll write a more in depth story as more information comes out. For now we rest with one simple question for you all: Are you planning to play this My Little Pony Tabletop Role Playing Game?
OMGoodness!
ReplyDeleteInteresting!, never played a "physical" RPG, maybe this will be the first that I play.

ReplyDeleteI don't have much experience with that kind of game, but there's no way I'm ignoring this!
ReplyDeleteWas looking for a D&D type game to introduce my daughters to tabletop rpgs. This might be the most perfect idea ever!
ReplyDeleteI shall enjoy this. It shall how I introduce friends into Tabletop RPGs, and perhaps even how I get my wife into it. One can only hope!
ReplyDeletethanks for comment
ReplyDeleteI'm actually quite surprised they didn't push this to Wizards of the Coast.

This is why we shouldn't joke about such things, we'll put them into existence.
Does it take place in spiketopia? Is our mission to save a beautiful unicorn princess named Shmarity? Because if it is, sold!
