Hasbro Reveals 2019 SDCC Exclusive Through The Years Twilight Sparkle
A few minutes ago Hasbro has officially shared images and information on this year's San Diego Comic Con exclusive figure, which is a throwback to the 35th Anniversary of My Little Pony! Twilight Sparkle is combined with her former self, Twilight, in this exclusive Through The Years 2-pack.
The G4 Twilight Sparkle combines an existing 3" body with new face and mane design (with bangs!), while the G1-based Twilight has a brand new pearlized design with the looks of the original pony from the 1980's.
Both come in a combined see-through package showing a design of Twilight on one side and Twilight Sparkle on the other side. Each side also shows the My Little Pony design from their respected era. The set will be available for $19.99 and debut at the San Diego Comic Con. Afterwards the figure will be available on the Hasbro Pulse website while stock lasts.

    1. Probably around the time the SDCC comes, if you're not going though (like me), maybe a few months later on Amazon.

  2. Twilight sparkle with pinkie pie eyes

    1. That's her movie style eyes.

    2. No, they're her show accurate eyes, only Hasbro added some glitter designs to them. Her movie eye design is more reminiscent to sunset shimmers eye design.

  3. A very neat idea! Though I won't bother adding this to my collection. G1 Twilight shouldn't be pearlized, it's inconsistent. Also, she is small, the size of G4 Twilight. I do really like G4 Twilight's bangs, emersive!

  4. Looks too much like a G3 pony and not enough like a G1... I understand making her smaller for packaging purposes but she looks “off”.

    1. Yeah but I like that. They aren't including the "only two gens that exist" this time. G3 deserves love too.

    2. When the box advertises it as "The Original from the 1980's" then it should be what it says. Not a G1 pony in a G3 mold, for no reason.

    3. The G3-ish-ness comes from the (relatively) thin body, angular cheeks, squarish muzzle, and the shape of the legs. It's directly based on the retro artwork designed for the 25th anniversary (which, not coincidentally, fell toward the end of G3), and some of the issues stem from that. The Running Press had a good mold for their mini Glory, so it IS possible to have a mini G1 pony look good. This feels like a bit of a copout, honestly. Perhaps time constraints were at play.

  5. I hope it's available on Amazon this year

  6. Honestly I don't get the "It doesn't look exactly like the original therefore I don't like it and it's not good" argument. If you want something that looks exactly like the original then go buy the basic fun repro. And if you're going to pay more for a con exclusive pony wouldn't you want it to at least be a *little* different?

  7. I think G3 Twilight is quite cute. I'd like to have her in my collection.
