You might be thinking: Cool, but... I don't see it? And that's why I write this post: The website still has the same colors, but there have been quite some changes which might not catch your eye directly.
Below we have a list of all the changes that we've done to our website and how it makes our website bigger, better and faster:
100% Responsive Template
We've upgraded our template to be 100% responsive and adapt to screens with as less as 300 vertical pixels! This means that whether you are on your PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone the website will automatically adapt the information to fit on your screen. We've had this design since 3.0, but there have been a few flaws, but those have now been fixed! This means: no more vertical scrolling!Improved Database Template
In addition to the changes in the responsive layout we've also re-organized the database screens and ensure that mobile phone users will see at least 2 images next to each other (instead of 1) and tablet users at least 4 (instead of 3). PC users will still see 4 images, but with more spacing for easier reading.Amazon Links in Merch Databases
One of the most common question we get on MLPMerch.com is "Where can I buy this?" or "Do you sell MLP Merch too?". Now, to make it easier for you to find a place where you can buy the merch we've introduced links to Amazon in our MLP Merch databases! So now when you're browsing the databases you can directly go to the correct Amazon page if you're interested to buy the pony. We've added links to a very large amount of the merch and are actually surprised by how many items are available on Amazon!Improved Website Loading Speeds
We've taken a critical look at the contents and images on our website and re-designed the way everything loads to ensure that the page renders quickly. So far we've seen improvements of 50% in loading times, especially on mobile devices!Giveaway Countdown
We've seen that sometimes people miss the giveaway posts and miss out on the great prizes that we have available. To ensure that the giveaway info can easily be found we've added a small countdown to our sidebar with information about the prizes and how long the giveaway is still running. Clicking on the countdown will take you to the giveaway post, which gives you information on how you can enter.Other Minor Changes
Besides the above mentioned changes we've also added a few minor changes that we'd like to mention too:- The menu bar has also been updated and works better on mobile devices and has an improved search bar
- Above an article on the homepage you can now see how many comments there are on that article
-We've removed the whitespace under articles to make the page shorter, which saves a lot of scrolling on both PC's and mobile devices
- Article titles are now blue to make them easier to read
- Images now scale properly on mobile devices (so no more vertical scrolling)
- A new background with Amy as both a pony and human
