Second Wave of 35th Anniversary G1 Ponies in April
Since the start of the year it has been one of the hottest topics in collectors land: the re-releases of G1 ponies to celebrate My Little Pony's 35th Anniversary. In our previous poll we had a question about these ponies, and one of the more popular requests was that of more ponies.
Those people will certainly be happy after reading this post, as we've got confirmation that a second wave is coming in April July this year! This time we'll see the year 2 Rainbow Pony set, with Skydancer, Moonstone, Starshine, Windy, Sunlight, Parasol and Peachy as part of the Pretty Parlor Playset. They're not only designed, but also packaged like the original ponies: the retro releases come with a comb, brush and sticker.
As mentioned before, a little patience is required until April July, as listed on Webhallen where the images were found. And it's rumored that at least 3 more releases are planned for this year, and that there is a possible three year plan so fingers crossed!

And for those interested, these ponies are not from Hasbro's own factories, but are manufactured by The Bridge Direct (who also own Basic Fun, formerly Tech 4 Kids). Under license, of course!
Update: The release date has been pushed back to July 2018.

    2. No, it's Peachy. Odd that The Bridge Direct themselves messed up and put Cotton Candy's name in the image...

    3. They didn't necessarily mess up, there are just several pieces of paper with ponies' names on them that come with this playset.

    4. The new Sunlight is awful!!! Yuk!! I hope that is just a prototype. Some of the colours are just weird. I am happy they are in the original molds. So that's something.

  4. Better news to hear would have been international sightings. I would love to collect the 35th Anniversary ponies, knowing there's yet more to come that I may never be able to acquire is sad.

  9. wtf is wrong with Sunlight's flanks in the second photo? That symbol is so wonky that it makes me sad.

  10. That's not Cotton Candy. That's the old set that folds into a carrying case with namecards you can switch in to show who is inside.
That aside, I'm really glad more of these are coming, as they actually have slightly different colours from my old G1 originals. At least I'll have something to buy while I avoid the anorecix G4 reboot models like the plague. I had really hoped it was just a movie fad, but oh well.

  19. I emailed Basic Toys about the Rainbow Ponies and first they told me to check with my local stores as to when they would be on shelves because shipments had gone out. I was already at Target and they can never find these in their system and they don't know squat. I told BT this, then got a response that they would be available here in the US in Sept. WTF?!?!

    1. Thanks for the info! I tried e-mailing them myself, but they still haven't responded to me. The push back to September stinks, but it's better than nothing.

  20. Thanks for the info, so upset that we have to wait that long. I've been to two different Targets last week and I didn't see any.
