 Did you know that My Little Pony has a line of comic books with over 100 issues? These comics have their own take on the My Little Pony universe, both with unique stories and a different art style. These stories and style are also seen outside of the comic books in the form of Guardians of Harmony figures: cool figures with articulation, storytelling and accessories for action-packed adventures. Many popular characters are released and they're available in various sizes and set types as well, ranging from 3" single packs to a gigantic 13" dragon!

Popular: Equestria Girls Minis

Besides the pony figures, My Little Pony has a side-series called 'Equestria Girls' which features human representations of the ponies from the TV-show. The series is accompanied by regular playing dolls and mini figures like these. Many fan-favorite characters have been released and start under $8 each. Bigger play sets and combined characters are available.
Tip: Not the best gift for younger children as the arms and legs can break when playing too rough.

Stocking Stuffers: Blind Bags Mini Figures

Small pony figures have been around for ages, and every few months a new series appears featuring multiple new characters, poses or styles. These can be bought in practically any store that sells toys, but it's always a mystery which pony you will get! If you're looking to buy a certain character as a gift it's best to skip the blind bags and pick an 'open' set of mini figures, like the Twilight Sparkle & Friends collection with many core characters from the show.

Perfect Playset: Crystal Empire Castle

About every year Hasbro releases a new big playset in the form of a Castle. This year that's the Crystal Empire Castle featuring Princess Cadance and her baby Flurry Heart. This set is based on the events from the most recent My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic TV-series season and bundles the characters with accessories and interactive features.
Tip: Walmart has an exclusive set which adds Princess Cadance's husband Shining Armor as well!

Collectors Dream: Guardians of Harmony Fan Series

Just like the Guardians of Harmony figures mentioned earlier in this post, these Fan Series 'statues' are based on the comic book art style and so far 3 figures have been released, with a fourth figure on the way (probably not before Christmas). The figures of Princess Celestia, Princess Luna and Discord are large solid figures that focus on design and are loved for their level of detail. None of the figures have articulation or accessories, so these are primarily meant for display purposes.
Tip: The Princess Celestia and Princess Luna figures fit perfectly together as a bigger gift!

Classic: My Little Pony Brushables

Brushables are the well-known My Little Pony figures with soft, combable hair (hence the name brushables!). Just like the blind bag figures these are the most common toys to see in stores with frequent releases of new types and characters. The latest additions to this line are the pearlized figures with a glossy coat and plenty of characters to choose from.
Tip: Walgreens has an exclusive 'Nurse Redheart' pearlized figure, not available in other stores!

Miniature TV-Moments: Friendship is Magic Collection

The Friendship is Magic Collection line of toys is a combination of the My Little Pony blind bag figures and Guardians of Harmony: Small, playful and story-driven characters available in affordable single packs, double packs and larger play sets. The line has various series, each covering an episode from the TV-show, recognizable by the characters, styles and accessories. The most recent set focuses on Nightmare Night, the My Little Pony equivalent of Halloween, with a total of 14 dressed-up characters.
Tip: Recent blind bag waves (16, 17 and 18) contain characters that tie-in with the theme of Nightmare Night and match the size of Friendship is Magic Collection figures!

Mystery Gift: Funko Mystery Minis Power Ponies (Series 4)

Lesser known figures are those created by Funko. They specialize in vinyl pop-culture figures, and have a wide range of characters, styles and sizes. Particular new is the 4th series of Mystery Minis, which are smaller version of their vinyl statues packaged in 100% blind boxes.
Tip: Hot Topic and Walgreens have their own sets with unique characters, not available in other stores!
