Images for the first playsets already surfaced a few days ago. But now Toy Wholesaler website ABGee has listed a huge amount of upcoming merchandise for the upcoming My Little Pony: A New Generation movie. Some of these we've seen before during the first presentation by Hasbro, but we'll also get a look at some new sets we haven't seen before. We've listed all of them below:
Crystal Adventure
All of the main characters for the upcoming movie are present in the Crystal Adventure Line. All of them come with articulated legs, molded hair and several accesories. And I love Zipp's skateboard, really gives me a 90s vibe, must the the colors haha.

Sparking Scenes
Sparking might be sparkling... I don't know. Anyway, we've already posted about these a few days ago but now we're getting some higher quality images which is always nice. We have Sunny Starscout's Mix and Make set where you can make your own smoothies. And Izzy Moonbow's Critter Creation where you can create your own critters ussing pompom's.
Rainbow Reveal Sunny Starscout
One of the first G5 toys to be revealed. This large Sunny Starscout features some very nicely coloured manes which you can style using the many accesories included. Interestingly enough this is one of the 2 brushables revealed so far for G5 alongside
a singing Princess Pipp/Pipp Petals.
Princess Petals Royal Castle Slide Playset
No idea yet wether to call her Princess Pip or Pipp Petals... it's confusing. This will be the large playset for this year and it comes with Pipp and her winged pomerian pet. It also features two slides from the looks of it.
Snow Party Countdown Advent Calendar
The blind bags will make a return too with the upcoming Snow Party Countdown, like the title mentions this is a nice advent calendar which include a figure for each days which is kinda neat. The figures themselves are using the G4.5/Pony Life molds and include both ponies and animals. The box itself also features some cute artwork.
Happy to see Minty as one of the Advent ponies too!

ReplyDeleteI love the design, but it's a very bold if not dangerous choice of Hasbro to choose ponies with molded hair as their main line. What are these ponies? Are they dolls or are they action figures? The distinction is important if Hasbro plans on beating the competition and meeting the demands of the demographic. For one I wonder if little girls will prefer MLP to brushable alternatives (i.e. Barbie horses, Sparkle Girlz unicorns and so on)? I also wonder how well these non-brushables will sell compared to the fashion style ponies? The last thing we need is a bunch of ponies sitting on the shelves because there are better alternatives out there.
ReplyDeleteI hate to be negative because the design is so wonderful, but I have a lot questions about this TBH.
PS: I deleted my first comment because of a weird sentence. ;)
Totally what I was thinking... brushable manes and tails was one of MLPs core play patterns, right now it looks like they're prioritizing articulation or something?? not sure.. To me, it's defintely lost its charm from G1, G3 etc.
DeleteThe molded hair ponies aren't actually the "new" main line, all of the presentations are only the merch that Hasbro expects to sell the most, there's still a classic brushable line but those are not interesting for promotional use
DeleteYeah seems like show accuracy might be more important to them. I agree that there’s just something not appealing about the articulation. I do like seeing them try something different though, even if it’s not my cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteRIP brushables.
ReplyDeleteThey have announced quite a few new toys with proper hair.
DeleteHer wings are really pretty and detailed and colorful. Don't like her frog face
