Basic Fun and Loungefly Releasing More 40th Anniversary Merch

The celebration of My Little Pony's 40th anniversary is starting to take shape: Hasbro is promoting the celebration actively on social media, and licensees are releasing their retro toys and merch. Today we'll look at what Basic Fun (known from earlier retro G1 ponies) and Loungefly have available.

Basic Fun

We start with a new release type from Basic Fun: Rescue at Midnight Castle, a set of 6 ponies that stand about 2" tall and somewhat resemble the Ponytail Petite Ponies with a solid mane and brushable tail. The ponies included (Applejack, Bowtie, Firefly, Medley, Moon Dancer and Twilight) were featured in the TV-special 'Rescue at Midnight Castle', hence the name.

Next we have the long-awaited Celestial Ponies, which originally never left the prototype phase during G1 (see our original post), but are now finally available. Featured are Aurora, Milky Way, Nova and Polaris with special patterns, celestial symbols and cute and antler-like horns with moons and stars.

Then we have a 3-pack Stable Box with Cotton Candy, Blossom and a small Glory, all with a pearly finish. They come in a beautiful stable box, directly ready for display.

And while they released earlier this year, Basic Fun also a set of 3 retro G1 plush available (Firefly, Glory and Moondancer) and also re-released the G1 Collector Ponies again, but with a special '40 Years' brush included.

Loungefly

They have released several G1 backpacks, wallets and pins in the past, and are now joining the celebration with a special lineup consisting of a mini backpack, wallet and crossbody. The designs are inspired by G1 playsets Pretty Parlor and Show Stable (set & carry case). All made with pastel-colored vegan leather and decorated with several G1 ponies. And while decorative, they still serve as functional bags and wallets with zippers, hangers and pockets.
